Gord & Olivier Clements Quintet
This ensemble is based in Victoria, BC, Canada and specializes in original compositions in an acoustic mainstream setting. The music features elegantly arranged blends of reeds, brass, and rhythm with a focus on ensemble improvisation. The compositions, primarily by Gord and Olivier, are characterized by intertwining lines and engaging melodies from Gord on bass clarinet as well as tenor and soprano sax and Olivier on trumpet and flugelhorn. Teamed with father and son are long time music collaborators Rob Cheramy on guitar, Dave Emery on drums and bass player Louis Rudner.
The ensemble has enjoyed 2 years of sold out shows at Hermann’s Jazz Club and several other BC jazz venues with the Gerry Mulligan – Chet Baker Tribute project. “Passages” was recorded live at Herman’s May 30 & 31, 2019. The CD package was designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible and includes our own photographs .
